Senator representing Edo North Federal constituency, former Nigerian Labour Congress Chairman and two term governor of Edo State has expressed displeasure in naming the Independent National Electorial Commission office in Abuja after the late Professor Humphrey Nwosu.
Humphrey Nwosu who passed away last year was the INEC chairman, appointed by General Ibrahim Babangida to preside over the controversial annulled 1993 Presidential election by the then military head of state.
Senator Adams while speaking at the Senate says Pro. Humphrey fooled Nigerians and did not come out to explain to Nigerians after the return to democracy in 1999 why he could not announce the final result in 1993 till his final moments on earth.
“Prof. Nwosu and IBB fooled 18 million Nigerians that voted. I would have expected Nwosu to be able to say: ‘I couldn’t display these numbers now in my record; Abiola won this election, but I’m not able to announce it.’ He died without confessing, and he cannot be rewarded.” – Sen. Adams.
