Former Governor of Osun State and Minister of Interior Raufu Aregbesola’s political movement, the Omoluabi Progressive, seems to currently be embroiled in a massive political crisis.
His political ally and long-time friend, who is highly regarded as his number two man, Moshood Adeoti, suddenly resigned from the former’s political group after Salaam was handpicked in Lagos as ADC’s guber candidate in Osun state.
Mr Adeoti, in his resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of the movement, said he is taking a backstep to attend to his health. His resignation also includes withdrawal from all political activities relating to the political group.
Sources in the know who pleaded anonymity say the withdrawal of the Iwo-born politician is a foreseen situation after the former governor Aregbesola was said to have anointed Osun State’s former Speaker, Hon. Najeem Folasayo Salaam, as his favourite to pick the governorship ticket of the ADC in a primary scheduled for December 3rd in Osun State.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold in 2026 as the future of the incumbent, Governor Ademola, also seems to be in limbo following the many crises rocking his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
