Former Speaker of the Osun State Assembly, Mr. Najeem Salaam, on Monday emerged as the African Democratic Congress candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election, securing 520 out of 528 votes.

Addressing party delegates before the exercise, the Chairman of the ADC 2026 Primary Election Committee, Mr Emeka Nwajiuba, said Salaam was the Sole Aspirant for the office.

“The total number of accredited delegates was 528, which was also the total number of votes cast. Eight votes were invalid, while 520 votes were valid.

“The total number of votes scored by aspirant Najeem Folasayo Salaam is 520 votes.

“By the powers conferred on this panel by the constitution of the ADC, I, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, chairman of the panel, hereby announce that the candidate-elect and now candidate and flagbearer of the ADC for the Osun 2026 governorship election is Najeem Folasayo Salaam.”
