• Messi scores 900 career goals

Inter Miami ban Messi's bodyguard from protecting him at games

Argentina and Inter Miami football legend, Lionel Messi, has become the second player in history to score 900 career goals.

Leo Messi, 38, opened the scoring in the seventh minute of Inter Miami’s home match against Nashville SC at Chase Stadium in the second leg of their 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup round-of-16 tie.

Inter Miami drew 1-1 score line of the night after a 0-0 first-leg result saw them eliminated on the away-goals rule.

Messi entered 2026 with 896 career goals and had added three more before Wednesday’s match.

Messi scored 672 goals for Barcelona, 32 for Paris Saint-Germain, 81 for Inter Miami, and 115 for his country, Argentina.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is second to five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and is the only men’s player to reach the 900-goal mark.
