APC presidential primary: ‘Demonstration of internal democracy’ - Tinubu
Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Saturday cast his ballot in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election at Ward L2, Ireti Primary School in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The President arrived at the polling unit alongside his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and was received by a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters, party stakeholders, senior officials, and several state governors.
Speaking after voting, President Tinubu described the process as peaceful, orderly, and a strong demonstration of internal democracy within the party.
“It’s been a demonstration of internal democracy, and it has been going very well according to plan,” he said. “This is grassroots politics where every member of the party has the right to participate. It shows that we have internal democracy and it’s peaceful and well organised.”
The President expressed strong satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries across the country, particularly commending the governors for their effective management of the process from ward congresses through to delegate accreditation and certification.
“I am very satisfied that governors have done well in their various states… It has been done very well, and with this, you could rate democracy at a high level,” Tinubu stated.
He reiterated the APC’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and credible democratic processes that empower ordinary party members at the grassroots to choose their leaders.
The President also commended electoral officials, party leaders, and security agencies for ensuring a smooth exercise.
Tinubu further emphasised his administration’s dedication to democratic ideals, good governance, and people-centred policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians and strengthening political stability across the country.
