The ADC letter to CJN Kudirat Kekere-Ekun begging for speedy judgment in the David Mark vs Nafiu Bala case is pure political theatre. A glaring show of shame and hypocrisy.
These same actors created this self-inflicted crisis. They went shopping for a political vehicle in the Jankara market – that notorious bazaar of second-hand, defective, and unreliable goods – and bought themselves a faulty party structure riddled with contradictions and unresolved leadership disputes. They dragged the mess to the judiciary, got a judgment, and rather than obey it, they took to every prime-time TV station to rain insults on the courts and the entire judicial process.
Now, suddenly, they are writing a formal letter to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, pleading for “timely delivery” of judgment in their Supreme Court appeal (Suit No: SC/CV/180/2026). The same people who showed contempt for judicial outcomes are now begging the judiciary to accelerate proceedings so they can sort out their 2027 participation. Do they have such short memories? Or do they simply believe the rules of decency and consistency apply only to others?
They are opportunists. You cannot treat the judiciary as a supermarket – pick what you like, discard what you don’t, then return later to beg for faster service. The courts owe no political party special favours or rushed judgments. Deliver justice at the pace that ensures fairness, not at the convenience of desperate politicians who created their own problems.
