The Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, is set to officially unveil the OWOADE STEM, AI & Robotics Centre, a pioneering initiative aimed at equipping the younger generation with cutting-edge skills in robotics, artificial intelligence, and applied Science, Technology Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
The Centre is designed to transform the local innovation landscape, providing practical training that directly enhances employability, fosters entrepreneurship, and accelerates business automation across farms, industries, and small enterprises in Oyo.
Students and young professionals will gain hands-on exposure to STEM applications, ensuring the State’s youth are
prepared to compete in the global knowledge economy.
Stanchion TM Consults NG, under the leadership of Dr. Temitope Akinsemoyin, has been named the official management and strategic development partner for the project. Stanchion TM will oversee all operational, programmatic, and partnership aspects of the Centre, bringing its proven expertise in public-private collaboration, enterprise growth, and youth-focused initiatives.
Notably, the firm has previously partnered with the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (OSSAP – Humanitarian), delivering high-impact poverty alleviation and youth development
programs.
“The OWOADE STEM Centre represents a transformative opportunity for Oyo’s youth and businesses. By equipping our young people with real-world STEM and AI skills, we are building a future-ready workforce while fostering local innovation,” said Akinsemoyin.
African Group NG has been appointed as the construction partner for Phases 1 and 2 of the Centre, tasked with developing a modern, practical, and scalable facility. Penfruge Global Limited, with a track record of successful collaboration with international organisations such as GIZ, UNDP, and ILO, will support implementation and capacity-building components.
The Centre will also benefit from international expertise through partnerships with IBMKP Global Australia, alongside Australian and Nigerian technology partners, ensuring access to cutting-edge STEM kits, robotics equipment, and global best practices. The launch, coinciding with the Alaafin’s first anniversary on the throne, underscores the palace’s commitment to innovation, youth empowerment, and strategic economic development.
