The Center for Public Accountability and Social Well-being (CPASW) on Thursday, September 10, 2026, protested at the Lagos State House of Assembly, calling for an investigation into alleged interference, intimidation and harassment over a 27.65-hectare government-allocated plot in the Lekki sub-region.
The protest followed an August 23 petition on a long-running dispute among the Ojaekomo family, the Ojomu Chieftaincy Family and Bashiru Fakorede over land at Sapata Village, Ajiran, Eti-Osa LGA.
The House invited CPASW Director-General Shola Omolola and the parties to its Committee on Rules and Business. The Ojaekomo family and the CSO attended; Fakorede did not. His lawyer said he would appear on Monday, September 14, and the committee adjourned.
The petition said the Ojaekomo family received a 60-hectare wetland excision in 2015 (Survey Plan LS/D/LA/3834). The Ojomu family later obtained a 2022 Certificate of Occupancy over the same land while litigation was pending and allegedly disrupted reclamation by the Ojaekomo family and its contractor.
In an August 3, 2023 resolution, the House split the land: 32.42 hectares (54%) to the Ojomu family and 27.65 hectares (46%) to the Ojaekomo family, directing that the latter portion be surveyed separately. The Centre said the state later revoked the Ojomu C of O and prepared matching survey plans (LS/D/LA8451/A and B), citing an October 29, 2025 letter from the Attorney-General’s office.
CPASW alleged the dispute continued, with Fakorede accused of using armed persons and security agencies against the Ojaekomo family and workers, and of weapons being planted on arrested persons. It said Fakorede had claimed influence over government decisions.
The Centre asked the House to invite all parties and officials, verify the 2023 resolution, revoked title and survey plans, protect the 27.65-hectare allocation (subject to any court order), and investigate alleged harassment, arrests and armed deployment. It urged all sides to avoid violence and self-help and said the matter also raised issues of legislative authority, government integrity and citizens’ rights.
