Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has stated that he has no preferred candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections and has not endorsed any aspirant vying for either state assembly,house of representatives,senate or governorship race. This clarification comes amid widespread reports alleging that he had backed a particular candidate.
The governor made it clear that all aspirants should seek support from God and the people, who ultimately hold the power and responsibility to elect their leaders. He emphasized that the mandate belongs to the people alone, reaffirming his neutral stance in the unfolding political process.
As the APC leader in Adamawa State, Governor Fintiri assured that all aspirants would be given a level playing field. He noted that the party is considering conducting direct primaries to ensure inclusiveness and give every aspirant a sense of belonging.
He further stressed that what is most crucial before the party at this moment is the need to conduct rancour-free ward, local government, and state congresses, as a foundation for unity and credible leadership within the party.
This position was reiterated during a critical stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Yola, bringing together key party stakeholders and governorship hopefuls.
Governor Fintiri further reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity within the Adamawa APC, stressing his determination to guide the party through crucial phases without controversy and ensure a transparent, credible process ahead of 2027.
