Heathrow Airport has been forced to suspend operations on Friday following a significant power outage caused by a fire at an electrical substation that supplies power to the airport.
The management of the world’s busiest airports took the decision to avoid further damage to its power installation while working the restore the damages section.
Heathrow announced on its official X (formerly Twitter) account that it would remain closed until 23:59 on Friday, March 21, citing safety concerns.
British Prime Minister says:
‘I know the situation in Heathrow is causing distress and disruption, especially for those travelling or without power in their homes’.

‘Thanks to our emergency workers for keeping people safe’.
This is the first time in a while operations at the airport will be grounded for a long time.
