The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, has narrated how he almost lost his job due to the involvement of Surulere constituency 1 lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot.

In a viral video from a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) members, Gbajabiamila said the president had called him during the impeachment saga of Obasa, challenging Desmond, who was among those involved, to warn the known actor.

“He is part of the people causing problems in the Lagos Assembly. I am telling you from intelligence that he was part of them. Go and tell him to retrace his steps,” Gbajabiamila said Tinubu told him.

However, he said he told the president that the lawmaker wasn’t part of them, although he had not spoken with Desmond on it to know if he was part of them of it.

Gbajabiamila said he called Desmond, telling him that if he was part of the people, he should get out of there.

Unfortunately, “he (Desmond) started cutting corners.”

Three days later, Gbajabiamila said he was called that there was a problem as his name was being mentioned all over the place, stating he was supporting Desmond.

“Of course president will not believe Desmond will do such a thing and I will not know,” he stated.

He noted he called Desmond again to make a public statement that he wasn’t part of the controversy but nothing positive came out.

“If not for the kind of relationship I had with the president, I wouldn’t be here today,” Gbajabiamila stated.
