Job Summary
Our client, a leading NGO in the Maternal and reproductive health space, is currently seeking to recruit result-driven Director of Business Development and Partnerships, to join the team. The Director, Business Development and Partnerships, is responsible for driving sustainable growth by identifying funding opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and leading donor engagement efforts to support the NGO’s mission in maternal and reproductive health. The role requires a blend of fundraising expertise, stakeholder management, and strategic planning to expand program reach and impact.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Identify, pursue, and secure funding opportunities from donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and government agencies in collaboration with the CEO and board.
- Develop and submit high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and funding applications.
- Cultivate relationships with major donors, institutional funders, and philanthropic organisations.
- Diversify revenue streams, including social enterprises, fee-for-service models, and impact investment opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with government agencies, health organisations, private sector actors, and international development partners.
- Represent MRH in high-level meetings, donor roundtables, and policy discussions.
- Lead the negotiation and execution of MOUs, partnership agreements, and funding contracts.
- Drive the development and execution of MRH’s business development strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- In collaboration with the CEO and executive team, identify new program areas and geographic expansion opportunities to enhance service delivery in maternal and reproductive health.
- Monitor industry trends and policy developments in global health, gender equity, and reproductive rights to inform strategic direction.
- Establish and track KPIs for fundraising, partnership engagement, and program impact.
- Ensure timely reporting to donors, partners, and the board on financial performance, project outcomes, and funding utilisation.
- Oversee financial sustainability planning and budget projections for donor-funded programs.
- Lead, mentor, and build the capacity of the business development team to enhance fundraising and partnership-building capabilities.
- Organise training sessions on proposal writing, donor relations, and grant compliance for staff.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and results-driven performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, fundraising, or partnership management within the nonprofit/NGO sector.
- Proven track record of securing funding from donors, corporations, and development agencies.
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of grant writing, proposal development, and donor reporting requirements.
- Ability to think strategically and drive innovative revenue-generation models.
- Experience leading and managing teams in a dynamic and mission-driven environment.
