A talented Nigerian woman has turned her childhood crocheting hobby into a footwear business.
“When I was in primary school we played with crochet, we used it to make caps, bags, and purses, so that’s how I started making this crochet.”
“I just take it as a passion, to play with it, anytime I’m less busy I will be making it. I never believed that you can make money from the crochet.”
“My plan for the next 10 years is to have my studio where I train people, where I transfer the knowledge to other people, where I showcase my products, where I also offer employment to other people.”
Nwakwudo can produce one or two pairs daily, depending on the design.
She has made over 100 pairs for various customers. She plan expand her business over the next ten years.
