President Paul Biya of Cameroon has been declared the winner of Cameroon’s heavily and controversially disputed presidential election.
The Constitutional Council announced the results on Monday, securing 53.7% of the vote, defeating his main challenger, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who garnered 35.2%.
Biya is currently the world’s oldest sitting president.
Biya, 92, will now serve his eighth consecutive term in office and will govern till 2032.
