Budapest police are analysing CCTV footage to identify those involved in a violent clash between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain supporters in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred around 00:20 on 30 May 2026 in the city’s 7th district on Király Street. Social media footage showed roughly 30 fans from each club fighting and setting off flares.
In an official statement, police said: “Several fans got into a fight on May 30, 2026, at around 00:20 in Budapest’s 7th district, on Király Street.”“The BRFK 7th District Police Department has initiated proceedings against unknown perpetrators for the crime of gang violence, within the framework of which the camera recordings are also being analysed.
”The clash comes as Hungarian authorities prepare for one of the biggest security operations in the country’s history. Nearly 4,000 police officers will be deployed across Budapest for Saturday’s Champions League final, with tens of thousands of fans expected to arrive without tickets.
On Tuesday, Hungary’s deputy national police chief, Zoltán János Kuczik, described the event as “the largest single-day police deployment in Hungary’s history.” Security preparations for the high-risk match began more than a year ago.
Separately, on Friday, two Portuguese men and one British man were arrested at the Champions League fan festival site following a fight and charged with disorderly conduct. Police also arrested a British man who climbed onto the roof of a parked car and caused damage to the vehicle.
