• Renewed Hope at the Grassroots: The People’s Gains in Tinubu’s Reforms

President Tinubu unveils “Nigeria First Policy”

Amid the whirlwind of national economic reform, it is at the grassroots that the success or failure of policy is truly felt. President Bola Tinubu’s administration has embraced this principle, crafting responses that prioritize the common Nigerian.

One of the most consequential reforms has been the push for financial autonomy for local governments. In Lagos, this model has long been tested and proven effective. Now, the federal administration is scaling it nationally, ensuring that governance becomes more responsive and localized. In an era where decisions must reflect local realities, this autonomy is a game-changer.

The administration’s targeted interventions are extensive. The Student Loan Scheme, backed by over N95.6 billion, provides underprivileged students access to education without the burden of immediate financial demand. The creation of the Consumer Credit Corporation with over N200 billion is helping households afford essential goods through installment payments, making dignified living attainable.

Over 600,000 nano-businesses have received grants. These are not headline-grabbing moves, but they are life-altering for market women, artisans, and small traders. More than N570 billion has been disbursed to states to directly support vulnerable citizens. These are the silent revolutions of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Meanwhile, tariff waivers on key food items and pharmaceuticals demonstrate an understanding of everyday realities. The investment in mechanized farming is not just about food security but about reviving rural economies and fostering dignity in labor.

The Tinubu presidency is redefining governance as a tool of empowerment. At the grassroots level, hope is not just renewed—it is materializing.
