• Rivers High Court restrains Chief Judge from receiving any impeachment notice

Rivers budget ultimatum: Fubara, Assembly set for fresh showdown

The Rivers State High Court has restrained the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Chibuzor Simeon Amadi, from receiving any impeachment notice from the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the clerk, and 29 assembly members, following an ex parte application filed by Governor Fubara.

This is the first time the courts will be giving any order after the Supreme Court ruling in 2025.

It would be recalled that the Rivers State House of Assembly is bent on impeaching the Rivers State governor, Sim Fubara, over an allegation it called a gross abuse of office.
