The Nigerian Senate under the leadership of Godswill Akpabio has approves Rivers State’s state of emergency proclaimed my President Bola Tinubu yesterday.
The Senate resolved to establish a mediation committee consisting of eminent Nigerians to help resolve the state’s political crisis.
President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all the elected 27 members of the state House of Assembly for six months.
The President made the declaration in a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday.
President Tinubu took the decision to restore stability in the state that has been witnessing political turmoil as a result of the disagreement between the state governor and the state lawmakers.
