• Tinubu’s reward to D’tigress and Falcon: A call to Nigerian youth to put nation first

    By Mazi Onyeani Kalu

In a time where cynicism often clouds the air and patriotism is mistaken for naivety, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again reminded us all of the true value of excellence, sacrifice, and national pride. His generous and symbolic reward to Nigeria’s female sports champions, FALCON and D’Tigress, is more than just a gesture of appreciation; it is a national call to every young Nigerian: “Give your best to Nigeria, and Nigeria will never forget you.”

The FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship was not just a tournament, it was a battlefield of grit, determination, and national honour. D’Tigress, against all odds, flew the green-white-green flag high, humbling giants and reclaiming glory for Nigeria. In the same breath, our gallant Super Falcons stood tall on the global stage, facing world champions with no fear, only fire.

What did these heroines have in common? Unshakable commitment to Nigeria.

President Tinubu, in a moment of historic recognition, announced a national honor plus $100,000 reward and a house for each member of both the Super Falcons and D’Tigress. Not stopping there, he extended $50,000 to each crew member and official, acknowledging the collective effort behind every victory.

This is not politics. This is nation-building.

A Message to the Youth: Patriotism Pays

In an era where many question whether Nigeria is worth fighting for, these women have answered loudly through action: Yes, she is. While some sulk in frustration, these ladies have chosen excellence. They’ve shown that you can choose Nigeria and still shine, you can wear the green jersey and become global icons. And now, the President has matched their sacrifice with reward.

President Tinubu has set a new tone. This is no longer the Nigeria that forgets her heroes. This is a new chapter, where talent, patriotism, and performance are celebrated and rewarded. The era of empty applause is fading; the era of real, tangible gratitude is here.

    Women Leading the Way

Let’s face it: our women have outperformed the men in recent years when it comes to sports. They’ve shown resilience, unity, and courage, proving that patriotism is not just in words but in action, sweat, and results. They didn’t strike for bonuses or threaten to boycott. They played their hearts out, for flag and for fatherland.

What a powerful message to young Nigerians, especially our women: You are not invisible. Your effort is not in vain. Your excellence will not go unnoticed.

The Tinubu Doctrine: Rewarding Loyalty and Excellence

From political strategy to grassroots empowerment, President Tinubu has always believed in rewarding loyalty and excellence. But this gesture takes it to a new level, it crosses politics and enters the realm of national values.

This is a message to all: if you put Nigeria first, Nigeria, through this administration, will remember you.

    Conclusion: Nigeria is Watching

This isn’t just about sports. This is a national parable. Whether you’re an athlete, an engineer, a soldier, or a student, your sweat for Nigeria is sacred. The President’s reward system is a reset button on our national value system. It tells us that service, sacrifice, and success will no longer be ignored.

To the young people of Nigeria: the game has changed. The path to national greatness is open. Put in your best. Serve your country. Shine with integrity.

    President Tinubu is watching.

    And so is history. #OnyeaniKalu
