The FCT Minister and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, yesterday organized a dinner for the suspended 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly in the United Kingdom.

Wike departed Nigeria on Sunday evening after spending time with his political allies and associates in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

It could be recalled that the former governor of Rivers State have had over two years of running battle of supremacy with the embattled and suspended Governor of the State, Governor Sim Fubara.

On March 18, 2025, President Tinubu declared a State of Emergency in Rivers State sacking all political officer holders in the State.

By Thursday March 20, 2025 Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, along with the six month suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy and all elected members of the assembly.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced that both legislative chambers would form an ad hoc committee to oversee the administration of the state during the period, and a separate committee to mediate the political conflict while the emergency rule remains in effect.

Details of the meeting were not out yet as at the time of filing this report but sources say it is strategic to the return of full political activities in Rivers State
